Conor McGregor Makes History In New York
Conor McGregor claimed to retire the veteran fighter Eddie Alvarez from the sport, that did not happen yet. But the “Notorious” did win the fight and makes history at the Madison Square Garden in New York as he becomes the first UFC fighter to hold two titles simultaneously. There were many that predicted a second round TKO finish to the match, and that is exactly what happened in favour of the brash Irishman.
He succeeded in making history at the biggest pay-per-view event, which was also New York’s first in the UFC 205.
Conor McGregor ridicules Alvarez
Three Knock-downs, 40 strikes and 32 significant strikes were struck by the featherweight champion.
The fight lasted a total of eight minutes and four seconds, and most of it belonged to the “Notorious”. He did not leave a single chance of taking a dig at his opponent inside the octagon and neither outside it. McGregor succeeded in putting Alvarez thrice on the mat in the first round, but every time the New Yorker managed to get back to his feet.
The fans would have recalled McGregor’s fight with Aldo, as the Irishman took a similar approach and landed hooks and punches that almost made the result certain during the first round.
The fight came with its entertainment and taunts, as the Irishman showboated, held his hands behind him twice offering Alvarez a chance. However, Alvarez just stood in front of him without any significant movement. The fight was far from close, but no one could have predicted it would end-up so one-sided at the end.
The brash Irishman made quick work of his opponent in the second round as he struck a series of punches to drop Alvarez on the mat. The referee was quick to push away McGregor before he could do more damage and awarded the win.
Legend status achieved?
The “Notorious” after the match said, “I’ve ridiculed everyone on the roster.” He further took the opportunity “to apologise to…, absolutely nobody”. The double-champ certainly does what he wants, and when he wants. But, does this victory grant him the legend status? A few on twitter definitely seem to think so.
Conor McGregor knocks out Eddie Alvarez to become the first simultaneous two weight UFC champion. 145lbs and 155lbs. Legend status achieved.

While some, say, there is no question about who is No. 1 in the sport today.
Hopefully this puts an end to the talk of who the biggest star in the sport is. Was McGregor going in, but it’s absolutely undeniable now.

McGregor is a certainty to draw in huge crowds, is a reigning featherweight and lightweight champion simultaneously. The first such champion in history, if that is not a legend’s work then what is.
